MEANINGFUL TRAVEL

Updated: Nov 4, 2020

In the age of Covid-19, people want more out of their holidays than just relaxing, they want to learn.

How often have you just travelled for the sake of leaving your house? Journey to a faraway place only to arrive and do nothing but relax? For many of us, these are the types of holidays we have experienced however, after almost a year spent at home in lockdown, how will our eventual return to travel change?

As presenter Gemma mentions during the show, people today are starting to desire meaning in their travels. To explore new places with a purpose of discovery and experiencing a new way of living even if it is just an hour away. A change of scenery is exactly what we all need right now but what we do when we arrive at these destinations is just as important.

“For a long time many of us have wanted to go away but what has changed now is the way people have been travelling.” - Gemma Harland, Inside Out 2SER broadcast

As we continue to live in lockdown, it is the inability to travel that drives us to think about this and want a vacation even more than before. So, if you’re planning a big holiday after Covid-19 has been obliterated, consider what you want to take away from your trips from both a mental and emotional point of view not just in physical souvenirs.
