How Has This Pandemic Threatened The Jobs Of People In The Physical-Contact Business?

This week Izzi Ronksley and Blake Erickson dive into the world of jobs that require physical contact to operate, to explore what happens when intimacy is outlawed.

With their hopes high and expectations soaring, Izzi and Blake traversed the streets of Brookvale to visit the local brothels to get an interview with a sex worker… and failed spectacularly! However, Gala Vanting of the Scarlet Alliance agreed to speak to them, which was an amazing opportunity to get a first-hand perspective on how the sex industry was impacted by COVID-19.

Alongside her, their stellar line-up features Kristen McKerihan, a physiotherapist who owns her own small business who drew Izzi and Blake into her world of COVID related practices within the industry, and the changes she has had to make in the unprecedented year that is 2020.

And last but certainly not least, they visited Sirirat Trutkong, a masseuse at the Phannarra Thai Massage who was full of life and laughs even as she recounted the hardships faced by those in the massage industry in this world of social distancing and the 1.5-meter rule. With these three ladies as their guides, Izzi and Blake endeavoured to glimpse into their world to provide a snapshot picture of the effects COVID-19 has had on businesses that rely heavily on physical contact to operate.

Join Izzi and Blake as they delve into the world of the once ‘in’ physical contact business, that now potentially find themselves on the ‘out’, with COVID-19 making it harder and harder to practice and stay safe.
