How Are People Spending Their Money In The Retail Scene During The Pandemic?

COVID-19 has impacted the way we live and definitely how we shop as well. Physical distancing restrictions, travel bans, and business closures, and concerns about physical contact from visits to public spaces have limited our shopping experiences in the retail scene. Although many people have shifted to online shopping, there are still a lot of traditional shoppers still prefer the shopping experience in the mall rather than via online stores. However, it goes without saying that their shopping habits have been adjusted somehow to cope with this pandemic.

Macquarie University students Liam Achurch and Mitchell Farrugia have a browse through the impacts of Covid-19. In this feature for 2SER107.3, the boys focused on how people are choosing to spend their money in the retail scene during the pandemic.

Mitch and Liam caught up with Uni student Jordan Brand, discovering what it's like to try and balance his money amongst government schemes and a hefty university workload. The boys also dig into the Macquarie centre retail scene, talking to shoppers and shopkeepers on what it's like to spend and sell in this unprecedented moment.
