Mitchell Farrugia

Mitchell Farrugia is an aspiring sports commentator/journalist. He has been a presenter on Alive 90.5FM’s Sunday Sports Roundup for four and a half years commentating local sporting competitions including the Canterbury Cup NSW, Harvey Norman Women's Premiership, Ron Massey Cup,  NSWNPL1, FFA Cup,  First Grade Cricket as well as other sports. At the beginning of 2020 Mitchell commentated on the trial match between the Penrith Panthers and the Wests Tigers for the NRL’s live stream. Mitchell has interviewed multiple sporting stars including Socceroo Josh Risdon, Former Socceroos Ante Covic and David Zdrilic, NRL Grand final winner Paul Whatuira, Former NRL player Josh Hoffman, Current Australian and NSW & NRLW player Isabelle Kelly and others. He is also the social media manager for Wentworthville Magpies Ron Massey Cup and Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership sides, a role Mitchell has worked in for two seasons. In conjunction with this, Mitchell also writes pieces which feature on TheRoar and NRLRoast websites. Apart from his sporting media work, Mitchell has created numerous features as a student at Macquarie University, currently in his second year. He is continually looking to build his skillset and take on opportunities in the media industry.

Phil playoust

Philip Playoust is a born and bred Sydney-sider. At 22 years old, he is in his third-year studying Media and Communications at Macquarie University. Growing up in a family that were dedicated listeners of the radio, it’s no surprise that he has gone down this path as a career. With a passionate desire for a fairer news cycle, his role as the Current Affairs Reporter has seen him interview numerous interesting characters relative to the shows ‘Inside Out’ topics. Particularly his friendly and open nature has benefitted his interaction with interviewees and ensures stories gets fair coverage. What Phil hopes listeners get out of the show is a new understanding of covid-19 and the ways of which have dealt with it.

Liam ACHURCH

Liam Achurch has been studying music and radio at Macquarie University since 2019, practising his skills by creating content for online audiences. He currently acts as a co-host for multiple podcasts and as an editor of a talk show.  He has been an actor in the musical West Side Story (Epping Boys High School) and play Yerma (National Institute of Dramatic Art), as well as filming sketch comedy for Youtube.com and recording electronic and parody music for Soundcloud.com. In his free time he likes to play the piano, take photos and take his pet bird for walks.

Christian Loone

Christian Loone is 21 years old and is studying a Bachelor of Media, majoring in Journalism and Non-Fiction Writing. He’s always enjoyed listening to the radio and thought it would be an interesting topic to learn about at university. Off the mic and on the field, Christian has played AFL football for the Sydney Swans Reserves. His father is a commander in the Australian Navy so Christian hopes to one day become a war correspondent.
